Thank you Julie. Yes, I think everything you said is right on target. I just finished switching around my living room and school room so that the school area and play area were separate. After 3 days (yes 3 days! LOL) I think I have it all organized.
Now if only I had just one more bookshelf...

Re: Older child falling behind younger sibling
Thanks Pam. I appreciate your insight. Honestly it might not be that much more work for me. I mean, I will have a bit more in preparation but actually doing it with them might go a bit smoother if they are separate from each other. Gotta think some more on it.

Re: Jumping in at CTC?
Patty - She fits into CTC very well except maybe grammar and math. She is doing MUS though so I don't think that will affect it do you? The only thing that really makes me worry is the amount of writing...meaning the physical aspect of writing. She does well coming up with things to write but her ha...

Re: Older child falling behind younger sibling
Hmmmm The more I think about it. Maybe I *should* let my 6yo dd finish LHFHG or at least just work the rest of this year on it. I could get ds started with Beyond and he could work at his own pace and not be rushed by dd. Even if he is moving slower in math and reading he would still be progressing ...

Re: Jumping in at CTC?
Andrea - Thank you. That is good to know that CTC is challenging your mature 6th grader.
Peaches - The writing sounds nice! I am totally leaning toward Preparing at this point.

Re: Jumping in at CTC?
Thank you. Does R&S level 4 cover everything in a review at all? As long as everything is in there I can help her learn it but if it's not there I won't know to teach it, iykwim.

Re: Older child falling behind younger sibling
Thank you Pam. No neither one finished LHFHG. We switched to other things for that time. I agree that dd should do HOD, I guess I was just thinking out loud. I could put her in LHFHG and ds in Beyond but that would have me doing 3 levels plus my preschooler. As much as I want to do what is best for ...

Older child falling behind younger sibling
My 8yo son is a struggling reader. Well, actually, he is struggling with most everything. He is very hands on and has a great mechanical mind. He wins at most games that have to do with spacial awareness, strategy, shapes, puzzles...that sort of thing. But he still struggles sounding out the word CA...

Jumping in at CTC?
Would it be difficult to begin HOD at the CTC level? My dd did some of Bigger but we switched to a workbook approach to get through a crazy season of life. I am missing HOD and would like to get back in but I am unsure of where to place her. When she was doing Bigger she liked it okay. She wasn't th...

What if you have already done Beautiful Girlhood and are going into Res to Ref? What would you do in place of that box?

Re: When to start?
Thanks Julie! These are the types of things I want to have in my mind as we go along. Of course I have no idea about my 1yo's development other than she is not an early talker like my oldest. I do know that my 3yo is a late talker and exhibits a lot of similar traits to my 7yob. I just combin...

Re: Need help with 2 yo and failed plans!
I feel your pain. Really I do. I don't currently have a 2yo. My most recent 2yo turned 3 yesterday! I will brainstorm a bit here and ramble some too. Sorry if it seems disjointed. I do know that boys (my boy at least) are very different from girls. I don't know how you have things set up. We p...
