Re: Child's History of the World
Ohmigosh, basesloaded! That's confusing, isn't it. No wonder I'm having such a hard time. :( Oh, well. Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and order it. With all we've had going on this year, financially, I'd hoped to avoid that, but I can't seem to do a search for this particular version in that w...

Re: Child's History of the World
Great! Thanks so much!
And our year is not going well so far, but it has to do with us putting on an addition to our house and not getting a strong start to school. But, thank the Lord for HOD - my kids can do so much of it independently after getting a good start with it last year!

Child's History of the World
Can someone please tell me the copyright date of this book that matches up with the Preparing guide? My son does this independently, and while I know other editions will work, I really need the one that matches the guide. Strangely, the isbn and the copyright are not listed on the website with the b...

Re: extension packages
Thanks for the clarification. I had thought the same thing - that it would be in place of the basic package, but something (and now I can't remember what) lead me to believe that might be wrong. Now I see that it could be because I'll be using Bigger and CTC, but for RTR I'll only be using the exten...

bumping this, because I've noticed a lot of people looking, but not answering. Hoping someone knows! Surely I'm not the first to do this. :0)

extension packages
If I am using a guide for only the extension age range, do I also need a basic package? This seems like a LOT of books for even an older child.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Read aloud selections question
ACK! New problem. I need not only 9 (or was it 7?) books, but they need to last 20 days? What if I pick a shorter one? Do we then need 2 for that genre? How do I know how long a book will take if it's not on The List? How do I pick that many books that last exactly 20 days of reading? This feels lik...

Re: I can't find the thread about schedules
Thanks, Julie - yep - that's me. Lots of boys and a little bit of girl (6 to 2 ratio) SOOO glad to be here. I think I'm almost there! ("There" being - almost ready to delve in and start acquiring books.) Yay!

Re: Sample Book Ideas List for DITHOR
But, how do you know what genre the book fits into if it's not on the list and you aren't familiar with it (with 5 avid readers in my house, I cannot possibly keep up reading all the books they read! When the oldest ones were starting to read, I thought I would read every book before I ever let them...

Sample Book Ideas List for DITHOR
Does this list come with book ideas all the way through 8th grade? Could someone who has it just flip through it, please, and see if it stops at a certain level or if it goes all the way through to 8th?
Thanks!
Stacey

RTR, again
My 13 yo is the only one doing RTR next year. I'm not seeing a DITHOR book pack list for an 8th grader. Are they to use the books from the history or storytime or extension section?
Carrie - I think you may be getting a phone call from me before I actually place my order!

Re: RTR (13yo): Basic vs. Extension or Basic PLUS Extension??
He could definitely handle reading both lists, because he, too, is an avid reader. However, does he need those 2 lists, PLUS a set of books for DITHOR? I'm not sure even HE can get through 45 books next school year!

Re: HOW many book sets do I need?
Thanks - to make sure I got it - I need a CTC book pack choice AND I need a book pack for the DITHOR, correct? I'm going with that unless someone else corrects me.
Thanks! I think I'm almost done with my order. Yikes. Now to see if I can beg, borrow or steal some of these books!

HOW many book sets do I need?
Again, I apologize if this is clear to others. I'm almost through the catalog, though and then I will stop posting so many questions (for a time!) :P Does a child doing CTC need, for example, a "boy interest" book set PLUS a "book pack" from the DITHOR list? I wish I knew SOMEONE locally who was usi...

RTR (13yo): Basic vs. Extension or Basic PLUS Extension??
I think my subject asks it well enough, but it seems odd to post a blank body. I am looking at RTR for my 8th grader next year. Does he need both of the lists of books, or just the extension?
Thanks!
Stacey
