Re: LHFHG Workbook question
You have almost 2 years to trade in the old LHFHG for a new one with the new workbooks and math activities. They will pay for shipping back to them and you can get the new guide for 50% off. Oh, that's if you bought it new from them in the first place. :) Pretty sweet deal. Two years from when I bo...

Re: Can parts of HOD be done after public school?
We are starting Preparing this year..... Another thing to consider since they are already "in school" and you don't want to get them bogged down is assigning reading books from Preparing (the books look awesome!) doing a read-aloud (even the History/science books) every evening as a family, and mayb...

Re: LHFHG Workbook question
Thanks! I may just email them when I place my order but I think it is just a couple of pages so it won't make much difference. I found the EarlyBird Math with a few pages done (we started with something else) so the guide I have will work with K Math. I'll have to buy 1st grade math. I have Handwrit...

Re: Questions about dictation
Thank you Lynn & Julie!
They could probably do CtC but I don't want to stretch the switch too much! DD #2 (4th grade) is quicker at school than DD #1 so Preparing will probably work out fine for us.

Questions about dictation
We started homeschooling with HOD with LHFHG and then moved on to BLHFHG....then life happened....We had twins born and I went back to work full-time as a RN. After weighing out our options we continued homeschooling but with a more traditional, independent method. My girls have done well with it an...

How independent is Preparing??
We used HOD for our first two years of homeschooling (LH & BLH) unfortunately then I had to go back to work full-time. We have 6 children, ages 9 to 2 old year old twins. My oldest 2 have done Teaching Textbooks for Math which has been working great. They have done Appologia Science pretty independe...

Re: Latin and Greek
Good to know! I am wanting to start Latin sometime too.... I definitely need "non-teacher intensive" as much as possible!kvmck wrote:We've been using (very slowly....) Latin for Children and we really like it. It is not teacher intensive at all b/c you buy dvds and they do the teaching for you.

I am planning for next year (though at the moment I would love to send them all off to school!....I do have 7 week old twins here too :D ) We will be using Bigger for 2nd & 3rd grade. This last year I got the Bigger guide to use for DD #1's 2nd grade math; however, we didn't use it all the time. She...

Re: Hitting a wall with Emerging Readers - what to do?
My DD struggled there too. I got a couple of early readers from the library and we also had another Amelia Bedelia book that I had her read. After 2-3 weeks so read Buffalo Bill easily She flew through the Science Reader and is now on Tornado I was very glad we had waited.....
