A Child's Story of America
I've read many reviews from people who have issues with this book. I plan on using it, but was wondering if someone who has used it could fill me in on the issues people have? Thanks!

Re: DITHR- Help please.
Thank you! All the information is very helpful and encouraging (and details are great)! One more question (for now). Are the genres for Storytime and DITHR normally the same? How do I know what genre I am picking from for DITHR? Maybe I have already read that and am just confused. I have been readin...

Re: DITHR- Help please.
Thank you, Jess. That was very helpful! Do I understand correctly that I will read to them for storytime and the children will read for DITHR? Did you have them read out loud or silently?
Thanks for any help!

DITHR- Help please.
I have had this book and have not begun using it. I feel like I am now in a rut of not using it. Please help me get started. I would appreciate any encouragement (what you and your children have gained, etc.) Give me a run down of the basics I should know going in (how long does it normally take, ho...

Re: I'm not sure why I'm writing...
Thank you so much for all the responses/ suggestions! I combined everyone in Beyond today and it went pretty well! My 6 yr old is pretty advanced math wise so my 8 and 6 were already combined there. We did do Singapore instead of MEP today. I really like both and don't want to give up MEP, but that ...

I'm not sure why I'm writing...
I'm not sure what I am looking for in posting this...maybe just encouragement or if anyone has advice that would be welcomed, for sure. I am overwhelmed and not sure what needs to change. I have an 8.5 yr old in Beyond, a 6.5 yr old in LHFHG, a 4 yr old who occasionally gets to do LHTH, a 2 yr old, ...

Re: Questions about Jacob Have I Loved
Thanks for the replies. Carrie, your response was totally clarifying and I hope you don't take my initial post in a defensive way. I was surprised by the content and turned it off. I now understand and feel completely safe with the books your site sells.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Questions about Jacob Have I Loved
I started listening to this on CD with my children. I have always trusted books recommended in HOD. Anyway, there has been a lot of bad language and now it is to a part about feelings she is having when she hugs the captain and how she wants to kiss his hands etc. I stopped the CD at this point to d...

Re: LHFHG Science Question
Maybe I didn't ask my question clearly. I will try to clarify. The other day, there was no page to read out of My Father's World, but the activity from the K book was to make lays of soil with various food items and label them. What would others do in this case (get info online, read a book about so...

LHFHG Science Question
I am using the Our Father's World science with the schedule from the back of LHFHG. What do others do when there is nothing scheduled from the book in the back. For example, on Unit 6, Day 1 the activity is to make an edible model of soil layers. It says to name and describe each layer. We skipped i...

R & S w/Beyond?
I have been following the schedules thread about combining more than one level and I also read posts from a link about schedules someone posted. I read several people doing R & S stuff with their children doing Beyond. Am I supposed to be doing that? I haven't come across anything about it in readin...
