Need penmanship help
I have been using HWT for several years for my dd10 and ds8. I have been bothered by the paper with the different lines for sometime but never chose to switch. My dd has used it for print and cursive and has done okay but not great. She is left-handed. My ds will start cursive this year for 3rd grad...

OT - Prayer Request
Hi all, My dd16 has been at diabetes camp for the past week. There has been an overabundance of sick kids with numerous confirmed cases of swine flu. I got a call from the camp doctor this afternoon that my daughter wasn't feeling well and wanted to come home so my husband went up the mountain to ge...

Re: Awanas and/or memory verses?
This has been an interesting thread to read as I have been grappling with this for some time. I did not go in-depth with our bible study in Bigger because I thought it would be too much along with studying for Awana. We only got through half of Bigger last year so we are going to continue with it. I...

Re: Exercise--What do your children do at recess?
Wow I have gotten lots of great ideas myself. All three of my kids love to hula hoop. We were never big video gamers but when my dd16 was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at nine we invested in a Playstation so she could use Dance Dance Revolution. That is great exercise. We also have an exercise DVD ...

Oh Mary, You have been soooooo missed! Glad your back and you have a renewed sense of how you want to proceed with the new year. Much of your life seems to echo mine. I had a lot of health issues derail my first year with HOD. I'm still sitting here trying to figure out what I am going to do. Even t...

Hello, I'm just north of you in the Temecula area. I will be in San Diego a week starting July 18th camping but I only have Bigger Hearts. This was my first year with HOD and by far our best. There are plenty of gals here that will be able to answer your questions for the younger books. Welcome. Jeri

Re: 10yro and 8yro help!
Hi again!! My son did wander some but you just keep on and let them know what is expected of them during the reading time. Structure and discipline goes a long way. As far as R&S English - we have found it to be wonderful. I had never used it before. My dd used R&S math last year with very good resu...

Re: 10yro and 8yro help!
Hi Christy and welcome, I also have three children two of which are 8 and 10. This has been my first school year with HOD. We are using Bigger right now and plan on going on to Preparing in the Fall. They will be 3rd and 5th grade, respectively, this fall. From all I've heard from others, HOD is com...

Re: New decisions...Bigger for a 9yo (soon to be 10)?
Hi, I just wanted to say that Bigger is great for your oldest. This is my first year with Bigger and I combined my dd and ds. They were 9 and 7 at the beginning of the school year. It has been a great year for us combining 2nd and 4th grade with everything but Math and English. I don't have experien...

Re: Bigger only or Bigger and Beyond?
Hi and welcome, I just wanted to say this was my first year with HOD. We are in Bigger right now with a 4th and 2nd grader and it has worked out great. After homeschooling since 1998 this has been the best year yet. Bigger sounds like a great fit for you and will give you a year of American History ...

Re: New here and so many questions
Hi and welcome, I agree that based on your stated needs HOD is exactly what you are looking for. I am still in the midst of my first year with HOD and after homeschooling for 11 years this is one of my best years. I am using Bigger combining my 2nd grade son and 4th grade daughter. Your daughter is ...

Hi,
Just want someone to clarify the previous statement. The pp mentioned needing a writing program in addition to R&S. I thought R&s included writing. Thank you.
