Rev2Rev materials?

Post by arstephia » Fri Jul 15, 2011 5:34 pm

I am in the process of gathering the supplies I need for Beyond and CTC but wondered if there has been anything posted or published about what is needed for the new Rev2Rev guide? I want to get that all purchased while the back to school supplies are out and while I am placing my Miller Pad and Paper order. Has anyone seen what is needed for materials?
I've done all the guides now with at least one child and still feeling the HOD LOVE. LOL!

Steph,

I haven't seen anything yet. Usually Carrie gets the intro to the guide up on the website as soon as possible. I just checked and didn't see it there yet though. Either Carrie or Julie would have to answer this question for you, so I'll bump your post up for you.

My guess is that your basic things will be much like CTC. In CTC you need the special painting supplies, and I don't think there's anything like that in Rev2Rev. So, a binder for the student notebooking pages, a common place book, basic art/school supplies (like pencils, erasers, glue, markers, crayons, colored pencils, construction paper, scissors), plain white computer paper and loose leaf paper for notebooking sometimes, a couple notebooks or composition books for dictation, English, math.

Hopefully someone will be able to come tell you if there's anything else specific that will help you get ready. :D

I will be using RevtoRev next year too, arstephia! :D We'll have to swap stories about our year with it. There is not anything posted in the way of the "Introduction" and its supplies for RevtoRev just yet, but from editing it, I can tell you that you will need many of the same supplies you'll be getting for CTC. There are some history projects that will require watercolor paints and oil pastels. You'll have the watercolor paints on hand anyway for CTC, and I believe less than 5 projects will require watercolor paints. Watercolor paper would be nice to have, but substitutions are suggested. A journal-type notebook will be used for the Bible portion. It need not have many pages, as the goal is just to begin to help dc keep a journal type collection of what they've taken from some of their Bible discussions. However, dc will hopefully want to add to it on their own later as this habit is started - so I guess longer could be nice in the long run. :D Dc will need composition books or something comparable for dictation, grammar, and creative writing (I believe). Dc may also want loose-leaf notebook paper for science, for scratch paper for math, etc. I am just trying to do my best to put together a list from editing RevtoRev, so this may not be 100% accurate - it will hopefully help you get most of what you need on your Miller Pads/Paper shopping trip. :D

Otherwise, typical art supply things such as lots of copy paper (we like white cardstock), some colored construction paper (large and small), scissors, a ruler, various sizes of index cards, some washable paint and a few paintbrushes, clear tape, masking tape, markers, glitter, liquid glue, glue stick, crayons, colored pencils (if possible), play dough or modeling clay, some yarn, paper punch, pencils, a black Sharpie, stapler - your basic art stuff. We used a 3 ring binder with clear plastic sleeves as a neat portfolio of the year. We also used cotton balls and/or Q-tips from time to time. Things like tin foil, plastic wrap, paper towels, a coffee filter, coffee or tea grounds, etc. from the kitchen are used from time to time too. Any food type items are easily substituted based on what you have on hand, or on the rare occasion something special is needed, prior warning is given in the plans, or options are provided. That is pretty much it! Have fun with all of this great hands-on stuff, and when in doubt, you can always skim the next week before hitting the grocery store, but I haven't found that to be necessary yet, and we've done every HOD guide so far. :D HTH!

In Christ,
Julie
