How to count hours in Preparing

Post by hsmom2 » Thu Jun 30, 2011 4:58 pm

Hi,
This is my first post after having read what seems to be hundreds of them. Everyone is genuinely helpful and encouraging. I would like to know if there is anyone who lives in Missouri and if so, how do you count the hours. Obviously Math and Science are easy but what about Storytime, Bible Study, Poetry, etc.
Thanks,
Carla

I'm not in your state, but this might be helpful in working out hours per subject:

We live in Missouri. This is our first year using HOD and we're in Beyond. I will just record the hours for the core subjects the same as the elective subjects. I think everyone records differently no matter which curriculum they use. I record in 30 minute increments, always rounding up. So if we do the assigned art project for the day and it takes us between 1-30 minutes, I'll record 30 minutes. If it's between 30-60 minutes, I record one hour. I do this because we often spend time discussing our lessons during times away from actual 'school', so this way I know I'm getting all or our time recorded.

Hi Carla, and welcome to the HOD Board! :D I'm glad you've introduced yourself, and I hope you have a wonderful year with PHFHG! :) You've already received some good help here for your question. I don't live in MO, but if I did live in a state I would make counting hours as standard, and easy on me as possible. :D I think just having a standard way of counting hours for the week is much easier than trying to jot them down day by day. I tried to describe this on this thread...

HTH! Enjoy PHFHG - it is a fantastic one year sweep through history! We will be doing it with you (once my ds finishes the last 5 weeks of BHFHG). We'll have to share our year here together! :D

In Christ,
Julie
