Scheduling Extensions

Post by jcmi » Wed May 25, 2011 5:23 am

Yet another question as I prepare my order!

In the fall I will be doing Beyond, Preparing, and Rev. to Rev. In both Preparing and Rev. to Rev., I will be ordering the extensions and all the "extras." How are these scheduled? I have looked at sample guide pages and don't see them there. Is there a separate schedule in the appendix? Does this get hard to keep flipping back and forth to find each day's work? Just trying to get an idea of how this is laid out.

Thanks!

They'll be scheduled in the appendix. I'm looking at my CtC guide right now (and I'm quite sure it's the same for the others), and there is a page talking you through the follow-up assignements that the students will be expected to complete after the scheduled reading. Then the daily schedule follows.

What helps us keep our spot in our guides is to use some post-it moveable tabs. Theses are wonderful! (A post-it note would work, too, but these seem to keep their "stick" all year.) The math schedules are in the appendix from Preparing on up, too, as the students may be in different levels. We don't find it difficult at all to flip for that.

Hi,
We did Bigger with Extensions (just finished, actually!). One thing that helped was having bookmarks for each week with the schedule on them. I just handed my dd a new bookmark each week and she could keep track of her readings herself. I found a file someone had made on some online board, maybe the Yahoo board, with the Bigger Extension schedule on them. But, just as easily, I'm thinking you could copy the pages onto cardstock and cut them out into bookmark sizes. I'm going to try that with Preparing Extensions this year. That way, one less thing to "flip to the back" for. But even so, it's no big deal to look in the back.

I hope that made sense! :-)
