My dd is asking for "fun" school and wants to learn to read. I am curretnly going through LHFHG with my ds and I am using the Bible from that. My dd has sat in on some of the Bible stories. Can I just use this Bible for LHTH? Besides Bible stories what else is involved? I have looked at the intro and week 1. I guess I'm wondering what all they learn.
Thanks
Sarah

i don't know that i have a real thorough answer, but we loved lhth, and plan to use it again this year. every day they do some letter activity-each week starts a new letter. i think it is excellent because over the course of the days, it feels like the letter and it's sound has been covered in any learning style imaginable.
there is work on colors and numbers, if i remember correctly-always with easy little projects. i remember specifically one day when there was instruction to teach your child your phone number sung to some tune (i forget which one right now) but i was so appreciative because i just don't think of things like that on my own. there were several things throughout the curriculum that were like that. when my husband would get home i'd say, "guess what they learned today?!"
we would almost always finish in 20-30 minutes-well, at least the part i had to be directly involved in. sometimes they'd take longer to do their projects, or whatever.
anyway, we LOVED this curriculum, and are looking forward to using it again! i know there are people who can give you much better details of what's covered (we finished it over a year ago) but that's a little bit for you.

Sarah,
About the Bible for LHTH...I haven't done LHFHG, so I'm not sure exactly which one you're talking about. We have quite an assortment of Bible Story books on our shelf, and the main difference between many of them and The New Bible in Pictures is how many of the stories are included in this one. It covers many more of the Bible stories! SO, you could use any Bible story book you wanted to and read from your Bible on the stories that aren't in your child's version. My dd loves to read from her Bible though!
I think the pictures help them remember a story at this age, too. I can remember the pictures from the original version from when I was little and my mom read it to me before bed.
Annegirl told you many of the things that are included in LHTH. I didn't really expect the letters and their sounds to "stick" with my 3 y/o, but they have! The letter activities are great!
Our favorite thing, besides the finger plays, is acting out the Bible stories. Sometimes we recruit the boys to help us. We had a great time "crossing the Red Sea"!
It's late here, so I hope that my thoughts weren't too scattered...

LHTH bible
Sarah,
We have just started LHTH and LHFHG and I had the same question. However, having actually started them, I would say that you should do separate Bible for each, because my ds5 (using LHTH) will sit and listen to his Bible and devotional with no problem, but he cannot sit through his sisters (dd6 who is using LHFHG).
The length of the LHTH is perfect for his attention span and he listens to the whole thing. I can't get him to do that with the one from LHFHG.
HTH!
