How have you done it? We'll school 4 days per week.
We are using the ERS, Spelling list 2, and Math Mammoth 2 (takes same time as SM). Though I still want to do the quick and fun math activities from the guide for Sinagpore 2A/B. So with these things in mind, how would you suggest we go about half speed? I'm considering alternating right and left pages each day, but I want to do
our math daily, as well as ERS and the LA box. That makes it very unbalanced to do it that way. Help me divide these up please?
Daily:
ERS
Math Mammoth
LA Box
Half-Speed:
Reading About History
Poetry
Rotating Box
Bible Study
Music
Storytime
Math Activity (when there is one- 3x/wk I think)
Science

I think I would try to keep the Bible, History, and Rotating Box together and do them on the same day as they are so closely tied together. Ideally I would say do the whole left page in one sitting. That usually doesn't take too long 30-50 minutes (depending on the rotating box). If you do the right page storytime, science, and math explorations that will probably average about the same. On the days that you have narration for science or you don't have a math exploration, you might get through more quickly. I think it would balance fairly well just doing left one day with the daily things you mentioned and then the right page with the daily things. Your days would probably be around 2 hours most days. If you find the left side day is running a bit too long, you could always do music or poetry on the right hand side day. I think that is what I would try.

I want to be sure I get the writing balanced well, too. I've found Carrie and Julie's samples of half speed. Would love to see some more!

Here's my idea after studying Carrie and Julie's half pace plans...
Daily: 35m
Math Mammoth 20m
ERS 15m
Day 1: 60-75m
History 10m
Bible 10m
Rotating 15-20m
Music 5-10
Spelling 15m
Cursive 5-10m
Day 2: 60-85m
Poetry Activity 5-10m
Storytime 15m
Science 20-25m
Grammar 10-15m
Poetry Copywork 10m
5th day (since we'll be schooling only 4) will be for the math activities. I think the way I've split Spelling/Cursive and Grammar will keep me on the same day in the guide for LA. When there's not spelling, maybe we'll do it anyway. If the lists are too easy for him to do for 2 weeks each, I'll bump spelling up to daily so he can finish list 2 this upcoming year and be ready for dictation in 3rd grade when we finish up Bigger.
Do the writing, activities, and everything look balanced? Times look right? For a child that loves math, what order would you do each day?

I think the writing looks pretty balanced as long as you make sure not to do the poetry copywork on the same day that you do science notebooking or the written lab. Otherwise that could feel a bit more writing intense that day. I'm not for sure how I would order the day. We always like to start out with the Bible box here and usually do the music right after that. Then we often complete the left hand side before we do any of the other "basic" things. We mix it up from time to time, but I usually like to do Bible first and since history just flows so well with it, we usually do it that way. I would try to break up the writing a bit for your ds. So each day I would strive for something that has some listening then writing then activity, etc. I try to do this myself especially when we are doing the basics. I try not to have back to back readings or back to back writing assignments. For me, I also try to make it so that I can leave them with their writing/notebooking/workbook assignments to finish on their own so I tend to schedule things that have independent follow-ups towards the last of our learning time so that it will be fresh in their minds when they go to do them.

Julie or Carrie (and anyone else), does this half-speed plan look well balanced to you as well? Just want to make sure before I start contemplating scheduling everyone!
