Lesson planning and using a computer

Post by floridalover67 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 8:39 am

In looking through RevtoRev, I see there are many CD's that come with the program. LIke the map CD. Is there a lot of printing involved? And do you look ahead to see what needs to be printed ahead of time?

Are we going to need a computer nearby to do any of the work in RevtoRev?

How much lesson planning is involved so you make sure you have everything ready to go?

floridalover67,

For Rev2Rev most of the CD's are audio CD's, scheduled for the kiddos to listen to throughout their lessons. The Composers Activity Pak CD is a printable CD, with the needed printing to be done in black and white ink. You can either print as you go, or print all at once. The printing is not very intensive for that CD. I'm leaning toward printing it all prior to starting to have ready-to-go as needed. :D

The only other printables are from the Map Trek CD. They can also be printed in black and white or in color. Typically a map a week is used. You don't have to print the full-color maps, but can instead view them on the computer screen off the CD rather than printing them if desired. The plans list the CD page numbers for viewing within each lesson, making this a viable option. Otherwise, if you have a color printer, you can print the colored maps too. :D

The research in Rev2Rev is done from the book The Signers, or from your own chosen resource for the signers if you prefer to use a different resource. So, no computer will be needed throughout the lessons in Rev2Rev for research, unless you choose to do your research on the computer. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

We really enjoyed Map Trek in RTR last year. My son's mapping skills shot through the roof! :D I decided to just print the maps all at the start, and the convenience of having it all in a binder ready to go for my ds helped him not have to wait on me or take time at the printer within our day to day lessons. He liked being able to take charge of his mapping himself this way. :D I am planning on doing the same for RevtoRev - printing the maps and putting them in a binder before we start. It was so neat to have the maps all specifically match what we were learning in history. Just thought I'd mention that - as we were glad it was all ready to go from the start. :D
