ERs and DITHOR

Post by GinainMD » Sun Mar 20, 2011 6:59 am

Hello everyone! My dds, 7 an 9, are both in Beyond and one is finished with the ERs and the other is not. For the dd who is finished I am moving her on to DITHOR. My question is about my other dd who will finish up the ERs when we finish Beyond sometime in June. She has excellent comprehension and always does well with any questions following reading the ERs. However, I have noticed that if she doesn't do the ERs, say over the weekend or a day off for a field trip, she stumbles more in her reading. So should I move her on to DITHOR or does it sound like she should just maybe read the alternate ERs? Even when she stumbles in her reading her comprehension is still excellent. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

I think you could move her on to DITHOR and maybe take it half speed with her. Read one day then do the DITHOR book the next. Then she can still develop her reading skills and also progress with the skills taught in DITHOR. The Level 2 book pack has some titles that are easier to read than others which you may help with the transition to DITHOR.
