trying to make this work for high school

We will be outsourcing my 14 yo's science, math and foreign language in the fall. I anticipate that we will continue this for the remainder of his highschool years, for these subjects. It will take him away from home 2 1/2 days a week. I'm planning to use all of HOD's RTR except the math and science. I'm simply discerning what he will need to do to fufill a week's worth of work in 2 1/2 days. Any suggestions?

I think I would look at it as being short 1.5 days since RTR is written for 4 days. Then looking at the program, The right side you are really taking care of with your off site teaching except for Bible Quiet Time and the box that is Devotional Study or Art Appreciation or Poetry. So on the right side you have two easy boxes that are mostly Bible based. I would just have your child do those 4 days a week. They are easy to fit in and Bible every day is a good thing. So now you just have the left side and you have 2.5 days to do the right side. I am not sure how you want to fit those days in but they have a patterns so I would look at that and think about if you might have some time in those days after the off site classes or if you really need to squeeze all that into 2.5 days. Not sure how I would do it but that is probably how I would think about it and then work with your child to see what their capabilities are. I think looking at it myself I would probably take the story time and make it part of daily reading and just leave that to 4 days then I would divide up the rest over 2.5 days making sure each day did a History project. My reason for that is reading is good to have as a habit and cramming all that in to 2.5 days seems to take some of the delight out of it to me. Then I would probably look at the boxes left for the week and make a chart using the general pattern of what is there for each unit regularly and have a general scheme for each week that your child could follow of what to do on each day.

Yes, W2W I have the guide and I can understand your proposed rhyme and rhythm. He would definitely have time before he goes in to take care of the Bible Quiet and History reading. You've given me some good ideas to ponder. His challenge will be the notebooking. He's not a big fan of it and having a lot of it to do any one day is not a joy. I think that's my challenge and keeping up with the grammar. Thank you for your thoughts.
