Confessions of a curriculum junkie

Post by Tracee » Thu Nov 18, 2010 10:45 am

Once I found HOD, I new my endless searching for curriculum were over. But recently, my ds was diagnosed with severe dyslexia. Now being aware of the signs, I'm sure my dd is dyslexic but not her twin brother. I started to panic. How am I going to teach them all. They are so close in age with different needs. So, I started another search, and guess what I came up with.

First, always go to the Lord when you are panicking. I would save myself a lot of sleepless nights.

Second, trust what the Lord is saying and where he has led you.

Third, HOD is more than sufficient to teach all of my children with different needs. Believe me, I've looked, and I can't find anything better for our family right now. Praise God!!!!! He is good!

You are one wise lady, Tracy! Seeking the Lord is always the best first step, and many times He calms our fears and brings us back to the place we first were, letting us know, "we're doing just fine". :D There are many dc who are dyslexic using HOD, so I think you've arrived at the same conclusion they have. One day at a time, God equips us to do what He asks us to do. You are going to do a super job of homeschooling all of your dc! His hand is in it. :D

My two very different children are both thriving with HOD for different reasons. God knows what we need and we just have to listen when he directs us!

I am so glad God gave you peace over this!!!

Tracy,

I know what you mean about the continual searching. I have done that all throughout my oldest son's curriculum path, and often it brings distress rather than peace. I cannot tell you the difference in both my attitude and my children's attitudes between homeschooling my oldest son with a very eclectic "me putting-it-together every year approach" and the "straight HOD approach" I've used for my next 3 kiddos in line. I pray that you have the peace that I am finding through the Lord in our HOD journey. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
