DITHOR question

Post by momx3 » Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:04 am

We are going to use Bigger Hearts for our 6th grade dd with the Extension Package. I feel that she would do better with the 4/5 Level Student Manual because she is very resistant to writing, but the books are too easy for her. As a matter of fact, she has already read most of the books in the 6/7/8 Level.

Can we order the Level 4/5 Student Book and use other books with it? Will I need to order the Sample Book List that Carrie has available? Has anyone used higher level books (adult reading level) with DITHOR Level 4/5 or 6/7/8? If so, would you tell me where to get a list of sample books that would coordinate with the genres in the book.

Thanks so much!

It will work with any book you choose, so you're good there. I would get the sample book list Carrie has put together and check out the upper levels of books there. Otherwise, look here... http://www.heartofdakota.com/bookshop.php You said she's already done many of the 5/6 book pack? You could check out the CTC boy or girl books. I'm sure they're excellent as well, and while they were chosen for the storytime part of that guide because they make excellent read alouds, they'd still be great books if you've already used many of the selections that are reccommended for independnet reading. :D

If you don't already have the DITHOR guide, you can order a package that has the teacher guide, student book you need, + the suggested book list. That will be the cheapest way to get them all.
