Draw and Write Thru History

My son was saying that the drawing in this was too hard for him. So I decided to sit down with him and try it too. I told him if I can do it than so can he. (I am lucky to draw a stick figure.) I have to say I'm really liking this book. We now do all of the drawing assignments together. He really enjoys that I am doing it with him. I just had to share how much fun we are having together!

That is so funny you said this. My children just 5 minutes ago were just complaining on how hard it was. They said, "You do not know how hard it is, why don't you sit down and draw it then?" I just laughed and said, I already spent my time in school a long time ago. My dd just said, "You did not have it this hard." Of course, I just chuckled again. I have to say, although I may not do the drawing with them, I did write my own poem while they wrote theirs yesterday. You see, my dd, is such a perfectionist that she tries to follow all of their drawing directions to a "T" and my ds, although he says it is difficult does not follow their drawing directions but draws it his own way. I am okay with that and have expressed to dd that I just want drawing to be fun and I really do not care if she follows the drawing directions or not as long as she tries to draw the picture. Nevertheless, dd is more stressed about the drawing than my ds is. I have to admit though, when my dd does follow the instructions the end product looks very nice. Maybe the next time they draw, I need to sit and draw with them.

What a great idea, Ann! I bet they loved that feeling of doing it together with you, and I know that I could dramatically improve my drawing by trying it as well. Thanks for sharing!
