I need some validation, please!

Post by wertzeemom » Mon Jul 27, 2009 11:55 am

Ok -- I finally got down to business and ordered! This is my plan: I have a 9 1/2 yo DD going in to 4th grade and a 7 yo DD going into 2nd. We're doing Bigger history, geography, science, story time and (maybe) poetry - together with the extension pack for my 4th grader. I also purchased R&S English 4 for her and R&S English 2 for my 2nd grader, as well as their grade-level math and health. My younger DD is doing the Emerging Reader set - maybe R&S Phonics, we haven't decided yet and my older is doing DITHR 4/5 as well as R&S Spelling 4. We're going to figure out art and music later! How does this sound?? Am I doing enough and will it all come together smoothly? Should I purchase another guide to schedule the R&S English 4, or just go at our own pace? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like your ideas are great! I would not purchase a guide only for R&S 4. Perhaps the R&S 4 teacher's guide would be enough. However, having the Preparing guide might be a helpful tool to have on hand just in case you feel your 9 yr. old is getting bored with the Bigger guide (with extensions). You may end up deciding to have your nine year old do a separate program half way through the year. It sounds like you have an excellent plan for your kids. My dd will also be doing Bigger this year and unfortunately her brother is only five so I am not going to be able to combine them.

Thanks, Ana! I actually got my boxes today -- so exciting!!! I think my 9 yo will definitely be challenged and interested in the material. So much neat stuff to read! I might have to read the books right along with her :D
