Optional Supplemental Emerging Readers... Awesome!

Post by LeAnna » Wed Jul 01, 2009 9:36 am

Hi Ladies!

I just got a box with some of my goodies for this fall, and one of them was a set of the Supplemental Emerging Readers. I went ahead a splurged and ordered them, and can I say I am so glad I did! They look wonderful!! And, I am I so glad to have found such good wholesome books for my kids! I don't have to worry about the content, because Carrie has done such a great job of going through and picking them for me! :D
If your budget allows or you can get some of them from the library, I would highly recommend it! We are going to be using ours for the kids' half hour reading time at bedtime. :D

If some of you aren't sure what I am talking about.... In the back of Beyond manual, under the schedule for emerging readers, is a supplemental title that can go with that required Emerging Reader.

I can't wait to read a lot of them for myself!!

I've been considering buying those books just to have. I was planning on getting them from the library, but it's so nice to have them yourself. Hmm.... you may have convinced me. I'm glad to hear you're so pleased with them!

We loved the extra HOD suggestions we purchased as well! The books HOD has chosen are just worth owning because the dc truly do read them again and again. In fact, I had to laugh, the other day I told my middle ds he needed to clean off one of his bookshelfs in his room for the new HOD books I'd bought for him to read (I bought books starting with the HOD Bookshop, and then spun off from there). My ds was up there for an hour, and when I came up to check on him, he had a pile of 5 books he was willing to have go down to the basement. I needed him to clear off like 20 books! He had such trouble clearing off even one shelf, even though those books were just going to storage - not like I was getting rid of them or anything. Once I showed him the new books he was really excited and could sum up the courage to let go of more of the old titles. HOD promotes a love of reading with outstanding book choices. Thanks for sharing here, LeAnna! :D

I agree, the titles I have seen not only the emerging readers, but also the storytime books and many of the DITHOR books-- I love the choices. I actually was even more pleased when I got the Beyond Guide and looked at the suggestions in the back of the book!

Even though we own a TON of books, the supplemental emerging readers had me going.. hmm dd would like this one... oh this one sounds good... hmm.... -- as well the descriptions

As well the suggestions for storytime read alouds- after reading the descriptions in the back of the book, it was often very hard to choose just one book in each genre!

And I love the piece of mind that I don't have to worry about content.

That's the part I love. That we can get all these books to read, or for C to read, and we don't have to worry about anything.
