MFW and combinging question
MFW and combinging question
Ok, so in order to combine my younger two children I came with an idea. My daughter who will be 4 late this year is in LHTH. If I do MFW K next year, then MFW grade 1 and then I can combine my then 4 1/2 and nearly 7 y.o. in Little Hearts. Does that sound reasonable? Will Little Hearts still be a good choice after completing MFW 1?

Re: MFW and combinging question
Ahh, I see what you were meaning in the other earlier post better now - hmmm! I'm sorry, I wasn't fully understanding your question earlier, but now I do.Mumkins wrote:Ok, so in order to combine my younger two children I came with an idea. When older is 4 1/2 to 5 1/2: do LHTH slowly
Younger takes in what he can
When older is 5 1/2 to 6 1/2: do LHFHG's Learning through History (left side of plans) half-speed, finishing the first half of it this year; do LHFHG Learning the Basics (right side of plans) full-speed finishing it this year.
Younger is 3 to 4 yo: do LHTH with him
When older is 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 yo: do the second half of LHFHG's Learning through History (left side of plans) half-speed, finishing the second half of it this year; do Beyond Learning the Basics (right side of the plans) full-speed with these choices: spelling list 1, either phonics or emerging reader's set, math 1A/1B, 1 of the storytime sets)
Younger is 4 to 5: do the second half of LHFHG's Learning through History with older sis, begin right side of LHFHG half-speed
When older is 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 yo: do all of Beyond as is, only for the right Basics side of the plans use these choices: spelling list 2, either emerging reader's set or DITHOR Level 2/3, math 2A/2B, a different storytime set from last year)
Younger is 5 to 6: do left side of Beyond with older sis, finish out the right side of LHFHG
*Note: You could do Beyond just 4 days a week at this point if you'd like, and take about 44 weeks to go through it too.
I think this would make for a very nice plan of combining your 2 over the years. Of course, if you decide to do something else, anytime you do LHFHG (or any HOD program) will be a nice time to do it.

In Christ,
Julie

Re: MFW and combining question
Thanks so much for thinking all that out for me Julie! I'll have to think on that. She's loving LHTH now. I'd love to do LHFHG next year, but I really want to combine them. Maybe half pace is a good idea. Especially as she's a Dec. birthday. She'd be starting school this year here. She's still so little!
