State Study?

Post by 3babiesmommy » Wed Apr 01, 2009 11:33 pm

I was just wondering if anyone has ever done a state study alongside HOD. We will be doing Bigger with my 3rd grader and either Little Hearts or Beyond (I haven't decided yet) with my 1st grader. I was also looking at adding 50 States Under God by A Helping Hand. Anyone ever added something like that before? It seems doable to me, but I don't want it to be too much.

Thanks!

That's the beauty of HOD. Your day is short enough to add in foreign language or state study or crafting or whatever you like to do.

I am going to do a State Study next year with Preparing. I am using the notebooking pages from Hold that Thought and living books. I think we will do 2 states a week to keep it manageable.

We will be doing a Virginia State study using State History from a Christian Perspective by Joy Dean along with the Abeka "My State Notebook". My 2 oldest (then 4th & 5th grades) will be in Preparing, so we will do our state study on our 5th day. The program seems fun, kind of like making a scrapbook.

You could also do a brief study using the state "Alphabet" Books. Ours is, "E is for Enchantment." They have free teacher's guides to go along with the books:
