Preparing Unit 3 question--art
Preparing Unit 3 question--art
Hi--I'm doing Unit 3 lesson 1 today and we are doing cave art. Are we supposed to dip the paper bag in the tea water, or is that only if we use white paper and don't have a bag? Sorry for the dumb question!

Re: Preparing Unit 3 question--art
We did this activity last week. I believe the dyeing process was only for those of us stuck using white paper
If you've got a paper bag, I would use as is.

We put our paper bag in the tea water, because I thought the instructions implied that and it might 'distress' the paper some. I don't think it really made the paper look any different.

We went ahead and dipped our bags in the tea water, too, and it didn't seem to make a difference...Oh well, the kids enjoyed it anyway!

Re: Preparing Unit 3 question--art
We dipped our paper bag paper today. We crumpled the paper a lot before dipping so the tea stained the creases. It did make it look a little more cave like.

Janet,
Yep, the bags are meant to be dipped to get the tea color in the creases to give it more of a layered look and also to make the bag softer to work with.
Blessings,
Carrie
