NBing pages & new guides: moving forward
NBing pages & new guides: moving forward
I understand that HOD guides, moving forward, are being printed in color. I also recognize that several changes have been required through the years (CTC Bible Study, RTR Medieval writing, etc.) so that schedules have been updated and books switched.
Have any of those changes affected ANY levels of the NBing pages? Have any of the NBing pages changed (or WILL they be changing) to accommodate a replacement book? If so, since I own "older" sets from LHTH through WH, are there any sets of NBing pages I should purchase now for ALL my remaining children, so that I am not forced to re-purchase resources (books and guide) to match new sets of NBing pages moving forward?
My youngest is just 3, so it will be 2031 before he moves into the last guide I already own! Should I be purchasing insurance?
Or, alternately, will you make an announcement of NBing changes enough ahead of time that those of us with more littles coming along can purchase before the old versions are gone? (So I could purchase multiple copies of just a single level that is changing in a given year, instead of 3 copies of CTC, 4 copies of RTR & Rev2Rev, and 5 copies of MTMM, WG and WH all at once!)
Thanks, Carrie & Julie!

Re: NBing pages & new guides: moving forward
Hello Rice,
This is a great question! We do not have plans to rewrite the guides to require changes to the notebooking pages, except to possibly add notebooking pages to guides that do not already have them. Our goal is to make schooling easier and better with each change we make. The notebooking pages are already beloved and make school so much easier and visually appealing as the are!
Color versions of our guides make the day more visually appealing and make it easier for the kiddos to see which subjects are in the plans each day. I believe that we will be offering an upgrade to the color version of our guides for half price to anyone who wants to swap their old guide for the new version. To qualify, you have to have previously purchased that particular guide from us. Then, we will send you a postage paid mailer to return your old guide, so you can get the new one.
Hope this helps!
Blessings,
Carrie

Re: NBing pages & new guides: moving forward
What a wonderful update! I have switched over to a different curriculum from preschool through 3rd for my youngest child, because I liked their progression and it has been a good fit so far. However, in their upper levels, the program continues to be very teacher-intensive. Since I have become a working mother, I appreciate the way Carrie has built in gradually increasing independence in the middle guides. So I won't buy any guides yet, in the hopes that the newest updates might be ready when I need them. I plan to use Preparing through MTMM and am very excited to hear about color guides! To be honest, color will help ME, as I remember I used to miss boxes back when I taught my older kids unless I highlighted them in some way

Hmmm. Not sure where my response to you went, but I'll try again!
Blessings,
Thank you for this! I know you have suffered (time, effort and probably financial cost) from companies who have changed editions/printings of resources that you schedule in the guides, so you understand the importance of continuity for those of us with large families! I'm so blessed by the way HOD handles those changes, and your commitment to keep things easy for us!Carrie wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 2:47 pmWe do not have plans to rewrite the guides to require changes to the notebooking pages, except to possibly add notebooking pages to guides that do not already have them. Are there notebooking pages for Preparing? They didn’t come with my set.
Re: NBing pages & new guides: moving forward
They are not due for release until October.

With the current guide, students make their own notebooks, using a 3-ring binder. All of the instructions are in the guide and are easy for the students to follow. HTH

Yes! The way Preparing was originally written is perfectly fine! Students follow the directions to make their own pages. The new pages will only affect Day 4 History, same as the NBing pages were Day 5 only in Bigger, and both sets are completely optional, anyway.daybreaking wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 1:47 pmWith the current guide, students make their own notebooks, using a 3-ring binder. Remember that once they get to CTC, though, the NBing pages are an integral part of the guide (include instructions, photos, maps, etc. that are needed by the student), and need to be purchased to carry out the history portion of all the guides from CTC through high school (and sometimes another subject, as well, such as the Science Inventor Study in Rev2Rev and the World Religions & Cultures course in WG.)

Rice
