Writing with the Best "Preparing"

Post by renee » Fri Dec 23, 2011 2:10 pm

My son will be using Preparing for fourth grade next year. When do I use Writing with the Best? I am using Bigger this year. He turned 9 at the start of the school year. That means when we do Preparing he will be ten one month into the Preparing guide. I have this sinking feeling that I should have been doing Writing with the Best this year. Any thoughts on this?

Blessings,

Renee

You don't need Writing With Ease and it's not scheduled in HOD...everything you'd find in that is already scheduled within all the HOD guides. Do you mean Writing With the Best? It's the writing program scheduled in CTC (the level AFTER preparing). I'm using Preparing with my 10yo 5th grader who LIKES to write, so she is doing a writing program, sometimes, that was an HOD pick...Igniting Your Writing, but wouldn't use it if she didn't like to write. All Language arts are solid and planned throughout the guides so you don't need to worry about getting/using WWE! :) Hope that helps!

I'm not the original poster, but I've been thinking about adding some writing in for my 10 year old son who is doing Bigger with Extensions. Is "Igniting Your Writing" something I could use now, and not have it overlap with any of the later guides? (In other words, is it scheduled in any of the older guides, because if it is, I'd prefer to use it then.)

Thanks! :D
Blessings,
Elisabeth

IYW is not used in later guides. It's suggested for use with DITHOR alongside R&S grammar as well, for DITHOR users that do not use the rest of HOD. So, I chose it b/c I knew Carrie "approved" and liked it enough to suggest it, even though it isn't in the guides. My DD10 likes to write creatively mostly, and she's really enjoying it...ya know...considering it is school. ;)

Thanks so much! :D

If I do add some creative writing in, I'll certainly consider this program!
