Thank you everyone for the advice and suggestions!
Just wanted to let you know we are trying My Father's Dragon and so far it's going well. We're only half-way through the second chapter (trying to divide over the next 14 days
) but DS seems to be interested.
In fact, my mom listened in today. The exercise following was for me to start retelling and then tap DS to pick up where I left off and then have him tap me to retell more........well, I drug my mom into it
and we had a ball going around telling and tapping! Honestly, I know he wouldn't have gone for the idea if my mother hadn't been there (turning it into more of a game than narration practice) so that worked out really well.
