I must be having a clarity problem today! I'll give this one more try!
You would not need a notebook for each of the 50 states. You would only need one notebook to study the one state that you live in. You would not do the study for the other states. You would only purchase the study for the state you live in.
What a great idea! I saw this company at the expo here last weekend but only got a handout. They were busy talking with other customers. I just ordered funbooks (age 3 - grade3) for our state and also for the states where my dh and I grew up. I plan to use one each year (1st - 3rd) so that dd can learn about her own state and her parents' as well. We will do this only 1 day per week. Then when she is in 5th or 6th grade we can do the older version of our state.

that link that Carrie posted has both single state programs and programs that cover all 50 states.
