The ladies have done an amazing job of helping find answers to your questions.
They are truly wonderful women, and we are blessed to have them on the HOD Board!
In answer to your question, the Bible Quiet Time guidelines I mentioned in my post about CTC actually describe the way the Bible Quiet Time was written in CTC. The only change, as already mentioned, was that we did not include the New Testament lapbook, but instead did a full-blown Student Notebook to address all parts of the history study.
I must admit that coming from doing Sonlight and then from doing Ambleside for years with my oldest son, when compared to the treatment of world history and ancient history that my kiddos who have only done HOD have had, there is quite a bit of difference. We've found that weaving Biblical history in with secular history does not water down the presentation of history, but instead presents it more fully on a deeper level by not excluding Bible-related history. History makes more sense and is actually less disjointed when viewed in combination with Biblical history. The study of history no longer feels like it has pieces missing, and kiddos no longer feel like they are just learning about disjointed cultures that don't really relate to one another in any way. Instead, students get the overall view that these cultures were once all related, had a common starting point, and a common past. Students understand that people spread out from Babel in groups, taking their "common past" with them.
We have thoroughly enjoyed both Preparing Hearts and CTC with our children, and we love the fact that our kiddos see history as God's story and His plan for mankind. It is important to note, as Lynn pointed out that all of the resources scheduled within our guide work together to give a fuller picture of history. So, if families omit resources or do not complete the guide as written, obviously the coverage will not be as complete. This is true for all of our guides.
