Another 6yo in Beyond here. My ds turned 6 at the beginning of August... we have about 7 weeks to go in LHFHG once we start up school officially in a couple of weeks. When we finish that, we'll start Beyond in November.
I agree with the pp that if that is where your dd places, she will do just fine.

Rather than stopping and doing something else to allow the younger to catch up, you could try half-speed to make a guide last 2 years (doing basics daily) or extend guides by 9 weeks by doing a 4 day schedule with LHFHG, Beyond or Bigger (where day 1 will not always be a Monday).

Doing them 4 days a week is a good idea Lourdes!

Yes, 4 day weeks is what we are doing with my 6YO for this school year. And I can do 5 day weeks with my DD4 because Thursdays my DD6 is doing a co-op (except two months I am helping so I can't school 4YO then obviously). I may consider starting LHFHG with DD4 next May or so and doing some "catchup" so we can land both in Bigger Spring or Fall 2013? Again, just knowing them both, their skills will be similar, although of course they will probably do different math levels, I think we might just be able to do it, especially for science, history, stuff like that.

My dd is 5 will be 6 Oct. 31st she will be in unit 32 of Little hearts next week. When she finishes we will go straight into Beyond. I plan to take it a little slower doing school 4 days a week. She has always been academically advanced and so far this is working great for her. My ds did Beyond when he was 7 and that was perfect for him along with SM 2a/2b. Every child is so different you really need to use the placement chart and be willing to slow down when needed. LHFHG is a great year though and if you have not yet done it your dc can still learn a lot from it at 6 with appropriate math and LA added in.
