This is where new posts begin. All questions or discussions about any of Heart of Dakota's curriculums start here. If you wish to share a one-time post about your family's experience with our curriculum, you may post under the specific curriculum title (found beneath this "Main Board" heading).
Just wanted to say hi and welcome!! I'm new to the board too... I'm Cris and I have a 5 yo DS... he's supposed to be in K this fall, but is advanced, and we're looking at using Beyond with him.
You've gotten great advice. The great thing about HOD is that it's so well laid out it takes away most of the prep, so if you do end up deciding that two separate programs are best, it's still manageable!!
Let us know what you end up deciding. It sounds like you really like Beyond (so do I!!) and would rather do that... f you do LHFHG with both (and then the enrichments for your older son), you'll still get to do Beyond next year!! And then you'll be even more excited about it, LOL!!
I went to the Homeschool Conference this year at Shingle Creek here in Orlando and I came away inspired, excited, and confused. What I thought was going to be my curriculum soon became very clear that it wasn't for us.
PS...Mama Mary...I stumbled across your blog and noticed you were at the convention. I was at one of Dave Weber's workshops...wasn't he awesome! Sorry I missed out on your's though...it was one of mine that I had circled, but unfortunately I went to another one. There were just too many good choices at the same time!!!
Hi Tiffanieh,
Welcome to HOD! I am so glad that you are here Which Dave Weber workshop did you go to? I know what you mean about too many workshops. It's hard to pick
However of I did LH how could I do the LA with beyond since doesn't beyond relate I'd back to the story they are e
they are reading?
Only the copy work in Beyond would relate to the poetry reading. The rest of the LA would be the spelling lists, grammar work, and emerging readers which aren't related. The way that I think I'll remedy the copy work is by having my dc use their weekly Bible verse as copy work. If that doesn't seem like enough I'm sure I can find something for them to copy

I just wanted to welcome you! The ladies have already done a wonderful job of helping your talk through some options. Since you really have a couple of good options, it comes down to whether it's more important to you to combine your kiddos, or whether it's more important to have a more exact placement for each kiddo. Either way will work, it's really just a matter of your personal preference.
If you do get a chance to go through both guides, I do think you'll come away with a clear picture of what is best for your family. Let us know if you have other questions.
I was in the front row, but to the right of the podium. There was a boy with dark brown/black hair that was in the first chair and I was in the second chair! Too funny!
Were you sitting next to the women that he called on initially about them having a "relationship" and how he introduce the levels (can't remember the names he used to describe them....or her name)
