Question on Math

Happy Summer to everyone!! We are schooling thru the summer....and I have found i do not like it at all!! But I really want to be on a regular school schedule with the ps and this is the only way I know how to do it...

My daughter is 8 and started Beyond in January...she struggled a bit...and than the last month or so has taken off and really alot of Beyond is very easy for her now.....and she is whizzing thru some times two lessons a day .....just because she has grown to that level...in everything....but Math.....She did Singapore 1 A and is almost finished wth 2A.....and she just doesnt seem to get what she is suppose to do...I also struggle a bit with the way Singapore is written..it feels to me like it doesnt prepare or explain things well...some times no explanation ...just a new concept...and for a child who struggles in this subject...it makes it harder...at least for my daughter..her reading has been amazing and improved way beyond where I even dreamed we would be....she loves history....and even math she loves..she just struggles....I have looked at other programs for math...but have heard such great things about Singapore I hate to leave it....and I dont want to be jumping around...So I guess my question is....has anyone had a child who is struggling with math and using Singapore ...and than it just *clicked* one day? I am wondering if maybe she needs something with a bit more explanation....I am actually a bit concerned because just basic single digit addition seems like a struggle for her on some days....and I am nervous about 2A....I havent ordered the book yet but looked on line and it seems...quite a bit harder....than what she is doing now...

I keep reading how much Bigger is a jump up...from Beyond and that is feeling overwhelming to me too! My main concern though is ....Math...

My daughters spiritual growth has been huge this year....and I know so much of that is from HOD....and all she has learned from that...She grasps that very well!!! Any suggestions on math? TIA!!! Beth in Idaho

Hi Beth! I'm confused about the levels she has done...

Could you clarify what levels of Singapore she has done, and whether she did the Textbook/Workbook schedule, or whether she did all of the hands-on lessons? Then I'll try to help!
