We finished CTC and my ds is sad

Post by LynnH » Thu May 19, 2011 10:42 am

We just finished CTC. We finished our last box (storytime) and he sat there and said hmm. I asked him what he was thinking. He said this was a fun year and it went way too fast. I figure that is pretty good testimonial for a curriculum when he is sad to see the year end. Tonight we will have a show and tell for my dh where we will set out all his notebooks and some of his projects for dh to look at.

How wonderful! I know my dc will be sad next week when we finish up Bigger. I will encourage them though that the next guide will be just as great. I'm sure your son is really going to enjoy RTR too. Congratulations on finishing and enjoy your show and tell night! :D

I have enjoyed reading your blog and watching the interesting projects your son has been working on. Congratulations on finishing! How sweet that he was sad about it. :) I doubt there are many (any?) 11 year olds in the school system who are sad to finish their school year! I hope he enjoys RTR as much...

Oh, that makes me anxious to begin CTC! We are finishing up Preparing next week, and my dd has already wanted to dive into a couple of the books for next year. I'm making her wait, but only till July. :D Guess it's not fair to make her wait when I'm already reading some of them. LOL!

I agree they are all great! But isn't it wonderful when they finish wanting more rather than complaining when it will be done! :D So glad you had a wonderful year with CTC!

Is it okay to say I'm a little glad he was a little sad? That is a real testimonial. Your Noah is such a precious boy - what a blessing he shared his heart with you. :D We are always a little sad at the end of the year too, but it's a short kind of "sad" as we take our break and then start getting excited all over again for the next year. Noah is going to love RTR too, but for now, celebrating the close of CTC gets the attention! Thanks for sharing this, Lynn!

He is very excited about RTR. In fact he loves Legos and saw that they have a Kingdom series that has castles and knights etc. He is hoping to get some birthday money so he can buy one of the sets. He said it will help him picture things next year. He also wants to do Robin Hood as a read aloud this summer. He is my kid that does better if he has multiple exposures to a time period before he is expected to retain information.

That is so neat that he is already trying to find ways to make connections to his next curriculum! He sounds like such a special boy. :D I am much like him in that I really like to immerse myself in a time period when I'm studying it. For me, that just brings the whole era to life. I love that HOD does that so much already. I love that your son is looking for even more ways in his spare time to immerse himself. Wow! :D

Oh, ladies! I am so thrilled that your kiddos loved their year and that they didn't want it to be over. :D What a difference from my own "school experience". I was all about the grades and memorized and flushed much of my learning! :D

I'm so proud of each of you for completing your guide this year. Be sure to take a moment to celebrate the completion, as much for you as for your children. Once and awhile, we mommas need to store up these moments and take satisfaction in what we accomplish. :D So, I am praising the Lord with you tonight on YOUR accomplishments as much as your kiddos. :D What an honor for me that you chose HOD to use with your family! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
