I LOVE HOD!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! So I have a question for you vetren HODers...Did you find that when your children were in the high school range that they were well equipped with what they needed to know after using HOD?
Also, I have been using Singapore math since before I started using HOD and I was wondering if anyone else had used it whose children are now on to Algerbra, Trig, Geo, etc.? If so, how are they doing in math now?
I have time to myself right now so I will probably post a bunch of stuff...feeling a little chatty

I don't exactly fit the profile but wanted to answer what I had anyway.

We took our oldest our of ps at third grade. She is bright but was lacking in a lot of basic skills. I have really found the CM methods of HOD really work so well. When we took her out I would say she was definitely behind in everything but reading. She is now 13 and doing RTR for 9th grade. We felt we could make RTR high school level with a few additions and she is doing Algebra and high school level science so it made sense to skip her a year. I know we would not be able to even consider advancing her where we could skip 8th grade for her if we had not been using HOD. It made her so ready for the independence and extra responsibility. HOD really gets them ready to learn how to learn on their own and be ready for the independent study. Every year my kids grow more and more to be self starters. HOD definitely gives them that. This child that is now in high school did not use Singapore. I do use it with my younger children though and plan to continue them in it. I honestly wish all my children had used Singapore. My oldest is using Chalk Dust for Algebra, She also used it for prealgebra. We've been really happy with it. I plan to transition my singapore users into chalk dust at the Basic Math level which would be the course just before prealgebra and cover from that what I think they need after Singapore. I need to take take a look at the upper guides to see where that might fall for them but that one transition year between the two I would customize to their individual needs as sort of a catch what we need year. I have my sixth graders on that level now but they did not do Singapore. If they had I know they would be a lot stronger and we will end up taking this book a little slower to try to make up for that.
Anyway I am not sure if there is anything that will help you but hope there is something. I feel my kids are going to be very well prepared for high school. This first one in has some big goals for her life academically and I feel very good about how HOD transitioned her even with beefing up the guide for a higher grade. Happy planning!

That is really helpful! Thank you for your insight!
It is funny...when we first started out homeschooling I was thinking that we will take this year by year and see if we will continue to homeschool. Now we are in it for the long haul and I feel so blessed that we are able to do this! I think the only way we would send the kids back to ps is if the law made us. God is so wonderful!
