question about dictation in CTC

Post by swymm89 » Tue Sep 08, 2009 10:28 am

ok, maybe I'm dense as a post here, but I cannot seem to wrap my brain around the dictation directions in the TM for CTC. I get the ' have student complete one dictation exercise', but when the TM says ' Havew student complete the first studied dictation exercise' I'm stumped.

Can any of you ladies clear this up for me?

I searched the archives and didn't find a post that explained it to me.

Good morning, Susan! We've done dictation for several years now, and it's really helped my ds spell well. The directions in the Appendix at the start of the dictation really helped me out, so if you haven't read through those yet, be sure to do so. The "Have student complete the first studied dictation exercise" direction in the daily plans just means do the dictation numbered "1" in whatever level of dictation you picked (CTC offers 3 different levels). Then, if your child gets #1 all completely right, the next day, they'd move on to #2, and so on. If they missed something, they'd do #1 again the next day. HTH! :D If not though, just ask more questions - we like to help here. :D

Thanks,
I had read the instructions in the Tm, but still wasn't getting it. Your explanation helps a lot.

So I start with #1 in whatever level, since we are new to this i'm starting at the first level to get used to the procedure. Then when the can do the piece with out mistakes we move on. In other words, we're looking for mastery.

I really appreciate your quick reply, we are getting ready to do our very first dictation exercise in a few minutes. we'll see how it goes.

I'm glad to help, Susan! This must be the Lord's timing, as your post was the last one I could get to this morning. :D
