Yay! Just got my books!

Just thought I would try to attach some pics of our Preparing Hearts setup.

The idea is for the kids to place books in the bottom tubs as they are completed for the day. (We'll see how that goes.)

Teacher's Guide's are on a nearby bookshelf. (I know this is a weird place for pencil sharpener, it's the only place I could find that dh would let me drill holes. :)

I love it! I am guessing here...are the drawers in sets of 3 for each subject and the ones on the top left for supplies? I've been thinking about doing something of this nature, and I really like the drawer containers you have.

Actually the drawers I bought at dollar general last year to organize my supplies. I will try to add a pic that is more closeup so you can see the categories. The ones on the left I just recently bought and dumped some sewing supplies in there the other day when I was cleaning to take upstairs to the sewing room later. OK I see you can't see the categories so here they are:
pencils, pens, markers, crayons, colored pencils, scissors tape glue etc.,
papers to be filed, Keepsake papers, batteries, playing cards, flashcards,
bead art, notepads, craft paper, labels stickers staples etc.,

This looks awesome! You look so organized and ready to go - that is such a good feeling, and it really impacts your whole year, so it is time well spent. I like to organize at the beginning, and then just enjoy teaching during the year. You are set up well to be able to do that. Enjoy PHFHG - we loved it last year!

Wow! I love it, too! :D Great job organizing. I'm so excited to order Preparing for this coming year. I get to order in July (that's in 1 week, ya know!!). I know we're in for a wonderful, memorable year. I'm going to have to get into organizing sometime soon. We haven't had any tornadoes close to home this year...but it seriously looks like one has been going through my house regularly, like every time I turn around.

When are you starting?

Thank you!
I planned to start as soon as all my books got here but the kids are in the middle of VBS right now so we are going to start on Monday (29th). ARGGH! It's killing me having all these exciting new books calling my name and we have to wait. Our schedule requires breaks in the middle of school here and there so we spread it out over the year. Plus, when we take too long of a break just about everything my kids have learned flies out of their heads and I practically have to start over.

Will do. I have been studying the teacher's manuals so that I will be ready when we begin. I'm so excited! Thanks for all the kind words ladies. Glad I could inspire. :D

gotpeace91,

I'm so inspired with your organization! It makes me want to dig in and organize too! :D

I'm so glad that you're excited to start Preparing Hearts. We thoroughly enjoyed it last year with our son and pray that you will too!

Thanks for sharing!

Blessings,
Carrie

I'm in the process of organizing. I went to walmart and found stackable baskets in their "off to college" section. The colors all coordinate and such. Pretty cool :D
I'll post links of where I am now even though I have a ways to go!

Here's what I'm working with. Whew! If you look at those blinds to the right, you might be able to see little marks on them. That's index cards cut into thirds and taped to individual blinds for our Bigger timeline! My toddler kept ripping the paper one and for some reason, this one has lived.

Here's a close up of inside the cabinet. I got some wet erase markers and can label the shelves with those by writing directly on the shelves. The bottom is our preschool and toddler "school" stuff like lauri and Melissa & Doug puzzles and peg boards, etc. The next up is math manipulatives, playing cards, card games, tangrams, play money, etc. Next one is playdough/clay, clean sprial notebooks, color sorted construction paper, paints and paint supplies.

Their fun little supply buckets for frequently needed items...pencils, crayons or colored pencils, ruler, etc.

I think I'm going to use the ziploc idea as mentioned before without too much tweaking. I've currently stored their school books we are using in tubs with wheels I got from target. I think I'll use the shelves for school books and use the tubs for the ziplocs in manilla folders. Those get stored in a large hall linen closet. The colored baskets on the long white shelf are from walmart last year. I've books we aren't currently using in them, sorted by guide and DITHOR books are sorted by level-- one has 2 and 3, then other has 4/5. The dark shelf has all our non-HOD books that are twaddle free  We've added in a couple simple extras to do on occasion which are also stored on the dark shelf for now. We'll see how it all ends up and I'll post it on my blog!
We'll be doing last 3/4 of LHFHG, 2nd half of BHFHG, and LHTH. I've GOT to get organized...if I don't, I'll have a repeat of this last year where I barely get school done. Another reason to do the ziploc thing!
