notebook for Beyond copywork
notebook for Beyond copywork
What kind of notebook does everyone use for their Beyond copywork? DD will be in first grade when we start in the fall. She is currently able to use the A book for A Reason for Handwriting.

I was wondering this too. We'll be using Beyond for my 1st and 2nd graders.

Re: notebook for Beyond copywork
If you are asking about the line spacing, I will be using 1/2 inch lines. My dd is using a notebook form Walmart that has 1/2 inch lines and she is comfortable with that. If you go to Miller pads and Papers site they have recommendations by grade level for line spacing.

On this same topic, does your child have separate notebooks for copywork, practicing spelling words, etc? I'm trying to figure out if I should just hand the children loose sheets of paper whenever they need to write something (and then put them in binders) or if we could use composition books for each subject. I've started flipping through the Beyond guide to try to figure out frequency of writing, but if anyone has any advice that would be great.
Re: notebook for Beyond copywork
Yes, I guess I was looking for line spacing and whether they needed to have a place to draw. Do you use any other notebooks besides the one for poems?

Re: notebook for Beyond copywork
I am getting special paper from HWOT for her to write on as that they have special paper that fits her writing style. I'll just bind them together when the year is completed. I'll just store them in a 1/2inch 3 ring binder until then.

Re: notebook for Beyond copywork
I haven't figured out how we will put all the work together, whether I will buy separate notebooks, make a student planner or some combo. I have to look over the Beyond manual to get a feel for what kind of work we'll be doing. I want to keep it simple, as soon as I have it figured out I'll post may plan.

Re: notebook for Beyond copywork
I bought a primary journal composition book at Walmart for ds to use for his copywork. It has the lines on the bottom of the page and blank at the top for drawing pictures. 100 sheets--so 200 pages. It's marked for grades K-2 and has the top blue line, bottom red line, and dotted middle line. (The size between the middle and bottom looks close to the HWT paper I bought.) He's really liking doing the copy work and then drawing a picture to go with it.
For spelling I'm using index cards to record them on, and then I bought a dry erase board at Walmart that has primary lines on it! It's fantabulous for practicing spelling words.

Re: notebook for Beyond copywork
Thanks. We have some of those notebooks with the empty space at the top. (DD used one for each animal we studied this year.) And I already own that same dry erase board with the lines since DD loved to do that when practicing letters. So as long as I get a good supply of index cards and a box to store them in, I should be set.

Re: notebook for Beyond copywork
For Beyond, we just used a 3 ring notebook and wide lined notebook paper. For Bigger we use Composition Books.

I like the idea of using the paper with the blank space at the top. Dd saw one of those notebooks at the store recently and really wanted one. I guess I should go ahead and get her one for the copywork. She'd love that!
