I was wondering if HOD had a stance on Shakespeare and introducing it to students?
I know Charlotte Mason encouraged studying his plays at a young age.

Rebecca,

We will be including E. Nesbit's Beautiful Stories of Shakespeare in our guide to follow the ancients (which will be during medieval, renaissance, and reformation times). We may also include Lamb's Tales of Shakespeare somewhere within our scheduling as well.

In the future, for middle school or high school, we will most likely recommend No Fear Shakespeare complete plays coupled with Arkangel's full-cast unabridged audios. I'm not sure where each of these will show up in our guides yet, but we are Shakespeare lover's here (with discretion of course). Paul Leithert's Brightest Heaven of Invention guide also looks amazing for a Christian high school Shakespeare study.

We have enjoyed all of the above resources already with my oldest son, with the exception of Leithert's book, which we haven't done yet.

On a different note, we will also be including Pilgrim's Progress within one of our upcoming guides as well, most likely using the Answers in Genesis version with discussion questions, large-print illustrated text, and audio.

O my... this sounds very exciting...
I must say that everytime I "turn around" HOD has something more to offer that is just what I would wish for!
The AiG Pilgrim's Progress is just one of those things!!

I can't agree more!! We are only at Beyond, but are eagerly looking forward to many fun years with HOD!!

Just wondering...what audios do you use?? Do you have a resource you utilize?? Also, what are some of your favorite books on tape for your youngers...like 4-7yos??

I am not sure if you are referring to me or Carrie...
if you search audio books on this forum- you will find a very informative thread. Julie lists some of their audio books... it is just wonderful.

P.S. My children love radio drama as in Jonathon Park from Vision Forum and I think Focus on the Family sells this type of audio resource.

Ooh, I'm excited that you ladies are excited! We've loved having both Shakespeare and Pilgrim's Progress woven into our homeschool days with my oldest son. I look forward to putting them in our upcoming guides, so everyone can enjoy the wonderful resources available for both of these studies!

How exciting. I can't wait. The guides to come sound so wonderful. It is hard to imagine them being better but they just sound great. I think my poor kids would have missed out on Shakespeare until high school. That is something I never would have thought of but neat to cover. I'm so glad you think of all these things and take care of it for us. What a blessing!
