Teacher directed boxes in creation to christ

Post by Rmdelhaye » Sat Aug 08, 2015 9:15 pm

Just checking to make sure who is supposed to do the reading in the teacher directed boxes with ctc. For example, the storytime box, history readers I have been reading to my child. Does teacher taught mean the parent reads aloud? It seems that the child should be doing the reading for more practice. Any help is appreciated!!

Fit T boxes, you do the reading. In later guides, it is marked S I think so the parent or child can do the reading.

In CTC you read the story time books. The student gets plenty of practice reading the books in the 2 history boxes and the Science box as well as Drawn Into the Heart of Reading.

I echo what others have already said. For T boxes, you read aloud the books listed. The Bible study book has some activities/writing on some of the days (the storytime box has activities you will do together but will not take more than 5 minutes most days). So occasionally there is something I will have my DD finish on her own. I think this interaction with her is important, and the books selected in those boxes are higher reading/comprehension level so I do not think she will get as much from it reading it on her own. Also hearing you read aloud, with proper speed, tone, and emphasis, is part of helping the child learn higher level language - grammar, etc. It's really important to continue doing that, even as children get older and are capable of reading it themselves.
