I had been doing Preparing at half speed with my 9 and 10 year olds. Now that they are 10 and 11, I decided to whoop their butts in gear with full speed.
Little did I know it was gonna whoop MY butt!!
It is SO extensive, important, exciting, and exhausting!
The only thing I add is AAS. And I only do a small portion of those lessons.
The do AAS separate, math separate, dictation separate. Everything else is together.
I am also doing LHFHG with one and LHTH with All About Reading with another.
I have never been a "schedule follower", but I decided we needed one to get everything DONE! So, Mrs. Fly By The Seat Of Her Pants is now Mrs. Scheduled!!
Help?

This was a discussion I had with another mom, maybe we should start a support group "scheduling for the unscheduled." It is not really my cup of tea either but it helps immensely or it has helped me. Once we get into a routine with it and we are usually ending around the same time and that time seems reasonable, then I don't consult the schedule anymore. We are trying so hard to get back into a good routine. In order for my Bigger girl to finish around 11:30 she really needs to get up at 7:30. But we have been staying up late so I don't make her get up. Sometimes breakfast and getting ready takes an hour and that's another area we are trying to work on. I will say the schedule has also helped me see where we have time "leaks." But it is exhausting for me having to keep track of what 4 other people are doing all at one time.
My other thought for you was that it seems like I read somewhere that part of the reason the older guides are 4 days/week are to give you flexibility for sports and things, but also in case it is difficult to finish the stuff in a day, you can leave some for Fridays. Maybe, especially in the transition to full speed, you could keep that in mind and it would help restore some sanity. I am 10 weeks (of guide) from starting Preparing and I have to confess it scares me a little. 4 days/week is the only thing that gives me hope
Believe me I get how hard it is to get through everything with littles around.
