Just in time to get ready for school.....

Post by 8arrows » Mon Jul 29, 2013 11:38 am

I broke my collar bone playing freeze tag with the kids! Everything looks like it will heal just fine, but it is painful and adds a little "obstacle course" feel to the day. I would appreciate any prayers for healing and patience. I am looking forward to comparing notes with many of you as we start school this coming month..

Oh no! That's tough, I can't imagine. :(

Are the guides you will be doing this year the ones in your sig? Or are those from last year? We are enjoying MTMM. We won't be finished until the end of Sept, but will be moving straight into the new Geo guide.

Melissa, I just sent up a prayer for you! I'm sure a broken collarbone is terrible but right at the start of school must make it much more stressful :( I know though that the Lord is faithful and He WILL provide your every need.

Thank you all for the prayers! Motherjoy, the ones in my signature are for this year. We got behind in Beyond and are just starting up again in August. The kids are excited about MTMM.

Praying for you!

Our oldest broke his in March, had to have a plate put in and other lovely stuff. He says the best help was a freezer pack on it. In a freezer bag he mixed one part rubbing alcohol to three parts water, sealed and taped it closed. Freeze until very cold, it won't get solid. He kept one on most of the day using his shirt and sling to help hold it in place.

Ouch! I'm sorry. I have to say that I love your spunk though. :D My kids love it when Mom plays with them (and I have to say, I do too!). You're not the same one who broke something on a trampoline a couple years ago, are you?

Kathleen, Do I have to answer the trampoline question, or can I plead the 5th? I was hoping no one remembered that! I need to stay out of the backyard. OR, maybe I am safe for another 2 years. Life changes after 40. Angie, I am going to try that ice pack. Thank you.

Oh no! I was hoping it was someone else who could relate to your spunk and injury!

Well, I think of you often when I'm out jumping with my kids. They were excited for me not to be pregnant or nursing anymore so that I can jump...because I give good super-bounces. Who would have thought freeze tag could be dangerous??? My daughter really thinks I should do cartwheels with her. I haven't decided if that's a good idea yet...

My Grandma was still getting hurt playing with us when I was younger. She never mixed well with roller skates or bikes, but she always wanted to join in. When I was in college, she broke her nose sliding into 3rd base while playing softball with the church youth group...in her late 60s!! So, I'm guessing you've got lots of years of fun left.

Oh, Melissa - OUCH! A broken collar bone hurts. I have prayed for healing for you! I remember the trampoline incident too, but then I have my own trampoline memory as well, so that may be why. I have just injured my wrist bumping the volleyball with my sons (after lifting some heavy boxes with it first), and I currently have athletic tape on both of my feet - my little toe and my 4th toe on each side are taped together. I have been rounding corners too fast and broke one and sprained another. Yikes! We need to slow down probably, huh?!? But a collar bone... I do believe that would be harder. I will keep praying for you!!! Take care!

Kathleen, I love the story about your Grandma. It makes me feel better.

Julie, maybe both of us need some kind of blow-up safety bubble! BOTH feet--I am shaking my head. That is not fair. The image of all the wrapping does make me smile in sympathy though. We would make quite a pair with my sling and figure 8 wrap and your tape!
