Fitting 5 days into 4 day schedule

Has anyone done a 4 day school week, but 5 days worth of work? I really would like to save Friday for play dates, field trips, nature walks, crafts and educational games, but I still want to do one Unit per work. Has anyone done this? I would be doing this with LHFHG and BLHFHG. Do you think this would work or would doubling up one day be too much?
Thanks,
Tracy

Tracee- search my posts- i had a similar question not long ago and got some good suggestions.
I've also heard of some doing extra boxes each day so you don't have a 5th.
we are doing bigger and lhfhg. we haven't started yet and i haven't decided what to do yet with our days....

I did it with LHFHG last year. We had one day of the week that was a double up, especially on the history, storytime, and math. We kept doing one phonics lesson a day and usually between the two days I combined I would drop one of the rotating box activities, and maybe the math activity. There were weeks when I didn't do the double-up, therefore our 34 weeks of the guide took more than 34 actual weeks. I also have friends who do 4 day weeks and basically school all year round, except for breaks for holidays, vacations, special family events, things like that. So they just do one of the scheduled days each day, only 4 days a week.
I liked the flexibility of a 4 day school week but our double-up day was a bit hectic. I've only done 3 weeks of Beyond but we are doing 5 day weeks this year and I like how much more relaxed that is. I also like the continuity of only have 2 days at most off between doing it, and I like that we are doing every activity instead of dropping some. I love how it all flows together.
But I am also joining our Homeschool association this year and there are field trips, a co-op, and we also try to do playdates once a week (in the afternoons, so that doesn't interfere with getting school done). I guess I will have to take those things as they come, I do want to participate in those things too so we will have to see how it will work.
I guess in Preparing it goes to 4 day weeks?

We go to a homeschool co-op one day a week so we only do school 4 days a week. We are only doing LHFHG and he is way ahead on Math and the Rod & Staff books (he loves workbooks) so we don't worry about that. So on Tuesdays we just do 2 days of the left side. We do our storytime every night so that is still done, and he just does two handwriting pages. It works okay for us, but he is my only child so I probably have more time than you do!

Just chiming in as we do year-round......we're doing LHFHG and BLHFHG both 4 days a week. For Little Hearts we're also half-speed so our 4 day week covers 2 days in the unit. For Beyond, we do 4 days of the unit and then pick up where we left off the next week. So for example, this week we are starting Unit 6. We'll do the first 4 days and then pick up Day 5 next Monday. Then Tuesday will be the start of Unit 7 and so on....
I did cram 5 days into 4 last year with LHFHG for my oldest but it got to be too stressful trying to "get it all in" by week's end and unfortunately some things were sacrificed along the way. I like our current set-up much better.

Thanks so much for your insight. TNT, I searched your posts. That helped too. I think trying to fit 5 days into 4 days is just going to be too stressful for us. If we have other things planned for Friday and can't get school done on that day, I think I will just pick up where we left off.
Thanks for your help. You guys are the best!
