cute HOD moment

Post by holyhart » Sat Aug 06, 2011 12:36 pm

I was reading from History Stories to my ds yesterday. The story was about Alexander the Great. He was loving everything about the story. A boy who became a king, a great soldier. Real Tim Allen "ugh...ugh...ugh" type stuff. Manly man stuff.

Until we turned the page.

There was a picture of Alexander with his horse......

All of a sudden he gets this all scrunched up little face he gets when he is questioning something. "WAIT!!!! This is a GIRL?!?!?!???"

I said "no, he's a boy....just like you."

"But he's wearing a DRESS!!" I stopped and explained that the toga-ish attire was standard for men of that time period.

He paused a moment, scrunched up his little nose and said "I don't think I like this story".

That's so funny! Sometimes pics can ruin the moment!

Too funny! We just read that one this week as well and my son loved it too! But he didn't notice the "dress" as he was just too pleased that "Alexander the Great" shared his name: Alexander. LOL. I thought he was going to ask me to call him "the Great" from now on.

I almost thought Joshua was going to give himself some "great" name as well! It's funny that when I read this story with my dd a couple years ago, his clothing was never even mentioned. Not sure it was even noticed as being different. Leave it to my little guy to notice that one. :D

cute. My son is 11 now and we did LHFHG at age 5, it's been too long but I don't remember him noticing anything....
