Couldn't you still use the hands on part in the math even with the U.S edition gone? I don't see needing a TM for the early grades anyways. Maybe for 4th or higher up I will. I went to the singapore site but didn't see where U.S edition be gone but then I did it quickly in between referreeing my children during mommy time. :)

"Earlybird Kindergarten Standards Edition will eventually replace Earlybird Kindergarten U.S. Edition."

I'm sure that the hands on activities can still be used with the Standard Editions, but my concerns are that the lessons in LHFHG won't line up with the new math books.

I do understand, Carrie, that you plan on updating the guide, and I realize that you offer updates on your website, for those that will need it. I am truly grateful for that as most authors don't go the extra mile.

MamaBear,

You are right that you only get the student workbooks for the Singapore Math. I haven't used Little Hearts yet, but it is my understanding that Carrie has written in hands-on activities that go right along with the lessons in the workbook - they're on the same concept. And, I think that the new standards edition of Singapore will introduce many of the same concepts but in a different order. So, I think the question that was raised earlier was what would hapen when the activities in the guide didn't match the work in the workbook. Here's the thread where Carrie answered that dilema... http://www.heartofdakota.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=990

But if you're asking whether or not you can use the math activities in Little Hearts with any math program you choose...Singapore or not, I would say yes, you still can. From what I've learned reading here - not by expereince yet - they still may be valuable, but not necessary. They're designed to go right along with the Singapore Math, but you're free to use them just as activities if you want to.

Hope that helps!
:D Kathleen

You ladies are doing a great job of answering each other's questions! You are truly amazing women with a heart for helping one another! 8)

You are correct that we will update our new version of LHFHG in another year or so, prior to our next print run so that the math activities in our LHFHG guide will line-up with the new Standards Edition of Singapore for Kindergarten.

We will not be updating our guides, however, for the new Standards Edition at levels beyond Kindergarten, as the previous versions of Singapore will remain in print for those levels. The Standards-version is a new version, but not necessarily a better version. There's a previous thread on the board here about the new Standards version: :D
