I love when things like this happen! :)

Two night ago, I was checking my oldest son's Singapore math. I noticed that, on one of the lessons, there were lots of erasings and then every single answer was correct. I immediately suspected cheating and when asked, my son did admit to it. I was crushed. :(

Today, we read in Boyhood and Beyond about how everyone messes up and makes wrong choices sometimes, but you need to follow it with admitting your faults and asking forgiveness...from those you have wronged as well as from God! This touched my son and we had a wonderful conversation about it. It also eased my heavy heart some in regards to him cheating. Of course, I have removed all answer books from his presence, but I hope that the Lord spoke to him in a way that will make him not even want to seek them out in the future.

The guides minister to us so much! I hear God speak to us through them. What a blessing they are.

Rebecca,

I am soo rejoicing with you! Raising these children up to glorify God is such a big task!! I had a similar moment last night with math. My oldest is such a bright young man. Very mathematical, but I have switched his curriculum so many times...trying to find the "perfect" one...now he is terribly behind. So, yesterday we were doing some oral drill and I noticed he felt like he had to prove he was smart and could do it, eventhough he was getting the answers wrong. He was working so hard at worrying about what I thought of him, he wasnt able to be taught. I had to stop and help him see what was going on. It took a little bit, but at some point he truly got it. Then he mentioned the fact that this lesson could be applied to a lot of areas in life, with friends too. I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of what God was doing in his heart and life. I said all this to say, I am truly rejoicing with you. I know how amazing these moments are as we see the Holy Spirit ministering to these young men. :D :D :D

A HOD friend in Christ,
Mercy

Rejoicing with you! I love it when these teachable moments happen. It is so difficult when our children do things like lie and steal. (Lying makes me really ANGRY! ) But it is good that we can teach them through HOD and show them God's grace and forgiveness. My goodness, I have needed his grace and forgiveneness so many times...daily!!! So, bless you for following God's Spirit and leading your son to repentance.

Blessings!

It is such a blessing to be able to watch our children grow--especially in their relationship with Jesus. I haven't seen the Boy book for RtR, but I will say that Beautiful Girlhood is the book I am most looking forward to doing with DD12. I have read it through without her over the summer, and I must say....God spoke to me regarding my own sin. I think the discussions through that book alone will bring DD to a new place on her spiritual journey. She started HOD with Preparing. I know that only God's spirit can move in us, but each year I see a new level of growth that can be directly traced back to studies done in Preparing and CtC.

Thank you for sharing with us!
Angie

Is it sad that I kind of wish I was teaching both a boy AND a girl with RTR so I could go through both books??? LOL I have often thought of buying the girl book just to read it...afterall, *I* am a girl! :)

Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Raising pre-teens (and teens) is tough business - and it really makes me miss the days when they were just LITTLE! Oh how fast those days went by.
