R&S English Question

Hello,
I am wondering, per HOD's recommendation, is it suggested that R&S English be started a grade lower than the student's actual grade level---assuming there has been no formal grammar instruction prior?
For instance, a grade 3 student would use R&S 2, a grade 4 student would use R&S 3, and so on.
Thank you.
Candice

R&S 2 starts in Bigger. This often times is 3rd grade, but sometimes 2nd or 4th. A large part is done orally.

Hi Candice! How are you?

HOD doesn't have a specific recommendation for when to do each level of R & S English, but rather a general recommendation of attempting to complete R & S English 6 by the end of Grade 8, and then completing R & S English 7 and 8 (or as far as dc get) by the end of high school. So, there are many different paths of success to this end.

In general, R & S English is considered advanced, so doing R & S English 2 in Grade 3 is just fine. Whenever dc are ready for the skills required to do Bigger Hearts, they are ready for the skills required to do R & S English 2. So the age can vary based on dc's skills. Clear as mud?

I hope that helped, but if not, ask another question please!
In Christ,
Julie

Candice,
Grant used Bigger for "3rd grade" - along with R&S 2. And, following along with the HOD plan and what's scheduled in the guides, he will finish R&S 6 by "8th grade". So, that's how it is working for us.

Aaah, thank you, ladies!
Not clear as mud, lol, Julie, I totally get it now!
Thanks for helping me here, I kept getting stuck on when to begin R&S and how to proceed with it long term. I'm good now

My youngest is doing exactly the same. He will do R&S 2 with Bigger for 3rd grade. My older son is doing RTR for 7th grade and he is finishing R&S 5 right now. He will start R&S 6 around Christmas and then finish R&S 6 as an 8th grader next year.
