DITHOR question

Post by LynnH » Sun Jul 17, 2011 1:40 pm

We used DITHOR the year we did Preparing, then last year with CTC we used it for half a year and alternated it with something else. I think I am going back to DITHOR fully, but I am stuck a little because he struggles some with comprehension at times and also lots of writing can be a challenge. Here is what I am thinking so tell me if this makes sense. We have one more genre in the 4/5 student book so I was going to have him read Gentle Ben and just take 15 days with it instead of the 10 that is recommended. He is excited to read this book because he loves animals. Then I would have him start the 6/7/8 student book, but would pick books for this year that are on the easier side since the work in the 6/7/8 book looks more challenging. Since he didn't do Bigger I was thinking of having him do Benjamin West and his Cat Grimalkin for Biography, then 2 Scripture Sleuth books for Mystery since I already have book 1 and he hasn't read it. I also have Little Pilgrims Progress so would probably have him do that for Fantasy or maybe Sign of the Beaver for Historical Fiction. Does that sound like it will work? The amount of reading in RTR will be a challenge for him in that he reads slow so I don't want to pick DITHOR books that are also really long.

I think that sounds like a great plan, Lynn! :D Your reasoning here makes total sense, and I think it sounds like an excellent approach for this year. :D
