I can pull the 'Preparing' up on the screen fine, but when I try to print, it's so small I can't read it. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

it shows up that way on my screen too. What you have to do is go to the top bar on the Adobe page and click on the little plus till it is large enough to read.
