Hello Ladies,
I have one son who will be doing RTR this year and the second Viking Quest book is part of that. Will the story still make sense if he hasn't read the first one?
Thank you for your help!
Michelle

If you can get it from your library, I would get it and have him read it this summer. My kids loved that book. We aren't to the 2nd book yet, but I think it would be worth getting the first one if you can.

Michelle,

We haven't yet read the 2nd Viking Quest book either. But we LOVED the 1st one in Preparing!! It is a great book! :D My son can hardly wait to see what happens to Bree because the 1st book ended with such a cliff hanger! So, I would definitely read it if you could. But, I'm sure the program will run just fine if you don't. It's just too good a book to skip in my opinion though.

My ds will do RTR this year also so we haven't read the second Viking Quest book, but as Kathleen says the 1st one leaves you hanging so I would think the second one would make more sense if you read the 1st one. The first one really establishes the characters and the situation they are in. That was my ds's favorite storytime book in Preparing. He can't wait to read the second one this year, and honestly I am excited as he is to see what happens.

You wouldn't have to have your child read the first one to be able to understand the second one, but you probably will want to. It's wonderful! :D
