Could I use a Timeline book in PHFHG?

I bought Homeschool in the Woods "Record of Time" timeline books before I bought PHFHG. They are such nice books and I'd really like to use them. Would they work or should I use the index card timeline in the guide?

My ds just finished Preparing and I too have the timelines. I used the index cards and they were a hit with ds and they were easy for me to use. I folded the index card so that one card became two to encourage small writing with ds and to save money and space. Preparing TM has been a delight and I would not change anything. Carrie has done wonderful plans and the board is wonderful. I may use the timelines in the future and in the latest TM it uses a product from Homeschool in the Woods so maybe the timeline will be in a future guide.

You certainly could, but the index cards were a hit with my kids. Also, when you get to CTC and up, there are boxes to draw the timeline figures in already in the notebooking pages. If you wanted to continue your other timeline book, your child would either have to draw them twice or leave the notebooking page boxes blank. I don't think I would want to do that.

I think you guys are right and my dd will like the index card timeline much better than the timeline books I have. Maybe I'll just sell them and be done with it :) .
Thanks!

We used the index cards too, and it was such a big hit that 3 years later, we still have it up! :D It is inside our coat closet door, and we have used it as a ready reference for important historical dates many times over. My ds learned so much from drawing upon what he'd learned to draw the pictures and label them himself. It taught him many skills he has used throughout the rest of the HOD guides we have done. :D I have enjoyed seeing the different ways our different sons' timelines look. It shows their personalities and individual creativity, as their entries look different from one another. :D Here are some pictures of the PHFHG timeline...

I liked Carrie's post about timelines here - it really helped me see why HOD does timelines the way they do...

Thanks Julie, that was helpful! I enjoyed seeing the timeline ideas. I bought the timeline books because I liked them, my dc were not impressed  I think my dd will get much more out of the HOD index card style time line :D
