Carrie, Thanks for the Ball Work in LHFHG

Carrie,

I just wanted to say thank you for all the ball work in the scripture memorization portion of LHFHG. My dd started basketball camp this week (having never played basketball in her life), and I was thrilled to see her doing bounce passes and some of the other things we did in school this year. I think that ball work week after week really paid off in that camp was not overwhelming to her. I never would have thought to tie in those gross motor skills to scripture memorization. I appreciate that you think to add these things in to really round out the program.

Thanks again,
Kathy

I need to get back to doing this stuff. My current LHFHG child already knows all the verses (from AWANA) so I've just been going over all the other stuff... It never crossed my mind about it being transferable to other areas!!

I second this, Kathy! :D I have been thankful for these skills as well. I had not realized my ds truly was not able to do this until we did it one day in LHFHG. I remember it clearly because I bounced the ball to him and his hands clapped together about a few full seconds AFTER the ball had bounced and already landed. I remember thinking, "Oh dear! This is something to work on!" He now catches balls like nobody's business, but he sure needed some help with it early on. :D Thanks for sharing this, as I think getting in those large gross motor skills is pretty important to do. :D

In Christ,
Julie

Kathy,

I'm so glad to see that your hard work paid off! :D We have found these skills to be immensely helpful with our own kiddos too. Gross motor skills are so easily overlooked, so we had to schedule them in the guide to be sure they are practiced. :D I am always surprised at the skills that my kiddos need to work on! :D You'll be glad to know that everything in each HOD guide has a purpose. There is nothing that is done at random.

Thanks for sharing! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
