I would really really like to do RtR with my dc when my dd turns 9 in a few months and my ds is 12.5.

We did RTR with my oldest ds last year. He was 10 1/2 yo when we started RTR. I would not do RTR with anyone younger than 10 yo, as it is a very meaty program and so much would be missed. My ds has done HOD from the start and therefore was very well prepared for RTR - it really was a wonderful program! :D But for a just turning 9 yo, a younger HOD guide would be so much better to do, and so much easier to teach too. The placement chart is an excellent way to go about placing our dc, as it helps us keep each of their different needs in mind. Here is a link to the placement chart...

I would love to help you out with placement if you could just give a little information about each of your individual dc, like where they each place and some information about each of them with the first page of the placement chart in mind. :D Age is only one indicator of what dc can do, and knowing more about your dc will help all of us help you better as you figure out what placement is best for your family. :D The ladies here are so helpful, and I know once you share a bit more, we'll all chime in and help out. HOD is an amazing way to homeschool our dc - I think you'll find it to be as much of a blessing in your home as it has been in ours! :D
