CTC Notebook - have generous writing spaces?

Hi. I was wondering if any of you who have used the CTC Notebook could tell me if you found that the space allowed for writing sentences was adequate. I have 9 & 12 yro boys who would use it. I guess their writing size is average. They can write smaller if need be, but just wondering. We've used curriculum before where the writing space was a bit too small. I looked at the samples online best I could, but nothing beats the advice of experienced users. :D Thanks!

Sometimes the boxes were a little small for my ds, but he has dysgraphia and doesn't write small at all. What I did was on the box that I knew would be a problem I would use a piece of paper cut to the same width as the box to extend the box some and then I fold it up like a letter. If you look at my posts under week in review or go to my blog you can see pictures of what I mean.

Thanks, Lynn! I enjoyed visiting your blog and did take a look at the solution you mentioned for your son in the notebook. Good idea! Another solution came to mind and that is to have my son type up his writing assignment for the box and then tape a copy of it in the box. This would be only for those boxes where the assignment required more lengthy writing. I did show my sons a notebook page from the sample CTC photobook and asked them if they thought they could write that small. They both said, "Probably, yes." So maybe I'm worrying over nothing. I think my concerns stem from my oldest having difficulty writing small in years past. But he's come so far, and I think I'm just realizing that!

I will have to visit your blog again. I'm in the process of setting a blog up for the first time (with the help of my wonderful computer-savvy husband.)

I thought the spaces were just right. My 10 year old did CtC last year, and I'd say he wrote average size. Not big, nor small. His writing got smaller over the year, and then we had a little extra room in each box.

Hi,
We did find the space a little small even with dc writing small. I actually have been putting lines in each box that requires writing to keep the writing from going all over the box. I think this has worked and I encourage my dc to write neatly and that helps.

Looks like there are some other good ideas in response and I am sure you will enjoy CTC! We have loved it!
